ABOUT NEW TOWN FILMS
Friends since school, Terry Bird and Jason Ford first met at their local Youth Theatre in 1983. Their passion for drama took them to tread the boards in other countries and The National Youth Theatre, respectively. Between them as actors, they have performed guest roles in various feature films and in most, if not all, of mainstream British television.
In 1988 Terry formed the Prime Time Theatre Company. As a direct result of Prime Time’s proven success, it was only natural it would one day, take on a higher and wider medium.
In 1997 New Town Films was formed.
TERRY BIRD
(Producer Director Actor)
A professional actor for over 30 years Terry has amassed a wealth of experience in T.V and film and has worked with some of the UK’s top directors such as Ken Loach, Paul Greengrass, Justin Kerrigan and Terry Windsor.
Prime Time Theatre Co.
In 1988 Terry formed the Prime Time Theatre Company. A company where it’s objective was to write and perform their own material. The work ranged from Street Theatre, to Clowning, to Theatre in Education. For several years they successfully toured schools, colleges and youth centers with their spin on issue based subjects.
In 2006 Terry was selected as part of the prestigious EAVE producers course.
2009 - Present Founder of New Town Talent Acting and Media Workshop
2017 Terry's work with Groove me Now has recently received a Digital Entrepreneur award for outstanding use of AV and VR.
Terry brings a high level of experience, passion, entrepreneurial skill and a creative flare to all projects that he is involved in.
JASON FORD
(Writer Director Actor)
Having started out as an actor in local Youth Theatre and then The National Youth Theatre Jason has always had a desire to direct.
His early experiences took him from the school and youth theatre stage to the Palace Theatre Westcliff, where he wrote and directed his first play Barricaded for the Artspace Young peoples Theatre Company. This led on to writing, directing topical based issues for The Prime Time Theatre Company.
Since the mid nineties Jason has gained a mass of experience in front of and behind the camera, (as an actor in many mainstream TV dramas and commercials and as a production hand, in roles varying from AD to storyboard Artist) . In the late nineties he was head runner for a leading post Production Company.
In 1997, his first short film as writer and director, Simple Minds was nominated for Best Screenplay at The British Short Film Festival and screened on Sky Movies. In 2005 his debut feature film (as writer and director) New Town Original, was released theatrically.
In between developing projects for New Town Films, Jason has directed several corporate films and is currently shadowing as director on mainstream TV dramas.
